surprise

wow. I just realised I've missed blogging.
I was reading all my posts again, and I really felt like I need to get back into this little online world again. It's just... I don't like the blog any more. The title, the layout. Now that I have time, I'll probably give it a make-over. Maybe I'll even start a new blog. You'll hear from me about that.
Maybe I want to include my Paris adventure in my blog, too. Because I'll be having a Paris adventure soon; I'm going to Paris in my gap year, baby. I just decided I'm leaving in January.

Anyway, I don't have any outfit photos to post yet, so I'll just give you, three-readers-per-day, some of my holiday pictures. My sister made them with her brand new Nikon.

ooooohhh! thunder and lighting!
and rain. and a sudden breeze.

A perfect moment to look back on one's holiday in Normandy.

noooooo I just discovered the pictures of our holiday are not on my computer. I'll try again tomorrow.

it's been a while, I know

Ahh, good to see people do see my blog after all... 3 pageviews per day seems to be the max though, ha ha. Well, luckily the pressure to post is not too big, for I'm in my exams right now AND we still don't have a new camera! gosh, this is getting exhausting.
I'm listening to the Noisettes. you should look them up on youtube, they're great.

Iris Apfel

Getting old freaks me out. Really. I work at the library in Velp three times a week, and every day so many old people come by. They mostly seem so helpless to me. They must all be in pain or something. They complain about their grandchildren never visiting them, or their reuma and they have a really hard time trying to understand the digital library system.
I don't want to get old like one of those women from Velp. I never ever want to be in an old peoples home. I want to be like my auntie Marga, who lives in an apartment in Amsterdam. She's 85 and she still goes to festivals and shops her clothes at American Apparel. And I want to be like Iris Apfel, who is a great source of inspiration to me. I read a few interviews and articles about her, and she's so lively and strong and stubborn and expressive, even at the age of ninety! Sighhh.

Who's afraid of red, white and blue?

nooooooooooooooooo tomorrow I'm having my Fast Lane oral exam. You may have noticed I have not been posting a lot lately, well now you know why: I'm preparing for my bloody exams. Fast Lane is a sort of Extra English class, and I'm freaking out because this oral exam is going to be difficult, I just know. Wish me luck!
And it just rains all the time, I get sick of it. I want to go to Paris badly, and sit on a terrace in the sun. Which is what I'll be doing next year. University can wait, right? I'll work as an au pair or something, it doesn't matter, Paris is my grande rêve. Oui, c'est ça.
Today I was wearing New Look shorts, a H&M blouse that has been my best spring buy ever, a Primark belt, a vintage bag and my grandma's ring.
oooohhh by the way I should tell you my photographs won't be of great quality for a few weeks, because our good old camera was stolen last friday, together with a laptop and my ticket for a lovely party in my hometown :( but we'll buy a new camera soon, I hope.
Talking about parties, queensday is nearly there! That's pretty much my favourite day of the year: the evening before is just party and the day itself is market everywhere. The kind of market where you can buy nice vintage clothes and other secondhand stuff. I LOVE IT.
Lastly I have a question, or actually two.
1. which webshop sells 40 den. tights that don't get ladders in two days?
2. I have used picnik.com for editing my pictures but it's closing tomorrow. Anyone knows of a nice alternative?

college rough versus Jane Austen

Yesterday evening, I decided to watch Pride & Prejudice again. The one with Keira Knightley. It must have been about the fifth or maybe sixth time I've seen it but it's just my bloody favorite movie, I can't help it. It gets better every time. At the end of this film I always feel very happy and warm inside. Yesterday, I got some inspiration for a hairdo too. Elizabeth's sister Jane has her hair all curled and twisted in a very romantic and careless way. So I thought I might as well give it a try. I really like it on this sort of college look with a bow! The pull-over is my dad's. He just doesn't seem to notice I've been stealing his stuff for weeks. The jeans is a second-hand Zara, the white shirt is from H&M. Both the owl necklace and the shoes are from shops I forgot the name of.

Today I tried some things for a new lay-out, I must make it slightly more personal I think. This is the result of today's hard work. I quite like it, though the picture's rather dark.

I Am Ginger Now. sort of.

The belt from primark. It broke yesterday, but I still love it

whoooo. I am just not good at face-posing with my mouth shut. I tend to look rather sheepish. Maybe it's my eternal optimism, that cannot simply be wiped from my face.
However. I did it! I dyed my hair, well, red. reddish. copper-blonde. It's just... nobody notices!

Oh, by the way! The blouse is a kind of DIY, it used to be a playsuit I got on the Queensday market but it looked terrible on me so I cut the bottom off and made it fit (it was toooooooo wide) and now I wear it very often! The cardigan is from new look. Vintage jeans and H&M shoes.

Oh, how I missed this sunlight

I'll assume that the tiny weatherman that lives on the moon (you know, that little elf that decides on the weather) is quite a well-behaved guy. Just following the rules. No spring until it's official. But now that it is officially springtime, the sky is very, very blue and the sun has been shining blindingly today.
I love that.
I love these pants too! I look so much taller than I actually am (which is 1m 65cm, I don't know how many inches or feet that is, but it's not very tall). And it was really, really cheap. I'm talking about €2,50 cheap. I wish I found trousers like these every day.
Damn, a building is being taken down just around the corner and it makes a hell of a noise all day. Now that my windows are wide open, it's pretty difficult to concentrate on my tests. Yes, I'm having a lot of tests next week so I'm studying hard. Not too hard though, because the weather is just too nice! I hardly can stop talking about it, as you may have noticed.
I suppose this is it for today! Ah well I'll adjust that the creamy white shirt is from H&M and the glasses are my dad's. Nothing special (:

look and art and dog

Hey guys! Finally, a new post. Seriously, I've hardly been able to make decent photos last week because I work really hard to earn some money (no I don't. I've got one of the most calm and easy jobs in the entire world. It's just that school's mostly out at four and then I have projects or ballet or, well, a job. but still. I don't work hard) so I get home at six, when it's all dusky outside. Our camera hates darkness.
And sometimes it spontaneously creates a blurred spot on its own lens, as it did today (:
Anyway. I wanted to show you the photos I made for arts, as I promised to do. They picture myself in about ten years in the future:

I look like a carrot on the one with the books, I think. Well, for the pageviewers that don't speak Dutch: 'kostuums' means 'costumes'. So, I want to have written a book about costumes, I want a boyfriend (no, I don't have one at the moment) and a dog, an apartment in Paris and I love nature but I will always be a city girl!
Just one last thing. Now that you've seen my dog's hind-legs, I think you should see the whole of him, his blonde, sweet, loving hairiness! Here he is, my eternal love, Basje.

pinkish in the garden

Now that's better.
A nice picture in the garden of me in a black dress and pink scarf from H&M, cardigan and belt from Primark. These heels are my newest sweeties, bought them at New Look, my sisters told me I should even though I'd actually spent all my money already. (: Now I'm sooooo happy I've got them!
The bag is from Catch, a tiny tiny vintage shop nearby. They've got the most beautiful vintage bags.
On my way home from the copyshop (printed the last one of the four photographs I recently made for arts, I'll show you soon) the air smelt like summer picknicks, marshmallows and thyme. Yesterday was just meteorologic perfection. Sunny, about 15 degrees and a fresh breeze. My absolute favorite weather type. That day of the year when everyone decides to wear a summer coat or just no coat at all.
Talking about coats...
I adore this one! I adore chicwish in general by the way, not bought anything of them yet but that's sure going to happen soon enough.

captain fancy pants of the swallow brigade

Hello again!
Last Friday I went shopping in Rotterdam with my sisters, Renée and Philippine (lovely girls. Except every time I ask them to make a picture of my outfit for lookbook, they laugh at me) and bought a really cool pair of burgundy peg leg trousers at Primark (and a lot of other stuff, too). I think they go really well with this navy kind of jacket and my grandma's swallow brooch!
I also photographed the pastel pink heels and the cute owl necklace I wore yesterday, because I felt you should see them from up close.
Okay that's it for today, I should be practising my presentation for the research paper about Edwardian costumes I recently made. My presentation is tomorrow and I'm freaking out, it's far too long. Oh dear. Wish me luck!

first look

Ouch, that's one seriously bad photograph of my first look. I should seriously invest in a better camera, and one that is not my sister's (: but that's probably not going to happen until after the summer holidays, for I'm saving all I can to pay for a week's journey to Portugal. Shame though, I'm wearing the cutest owl necklace ever but the photograph is far too blurred to actually see it.
I was riding home on my bicycle after i'd finished working (I work at the library, by the way, lovely job). Most of the time I love riding my bicycle but today the weather is shitty so I didn't really enjoy. However, I was completely caught up thinking about my blog so it seemed like I was home in a minute. It normally takes twenty.
Sweater: vintage, skirt: new look, shoes: tango, belt: primark and a necklace from a lovely shop in Lucca, Italy but I didn't really try to remember its name, I'm sorry (:

birds

It's almost seven pm and birds are still whistling outside. How's that? I think spring is on its way. In my room it feels like minus twenty though, I'm freezing!
I love birds. They're like flying weather forecasts, and they always make me very happy with their joyful singing. I went for a walk today with my mom and sister and there was this tiny bird, high in the blue sky above the field, singing loudly and moving its wings so fast I almost couldn't see them. It seemed to be in a state of enourmous excitement, which looked really funny (:
Well, no posts of dresses yet today, but I hope there will be some during this week. I tried to make a blog before, about a month ago, but I totally failed. This is my second try and I really hope I will keep it up to date and not just let it sink into oblivion again! You'll hear from me soon enough I guess (:
